Exploring the World: China

Appreciating various cultures outside of your own is so important. I have decided that every once in a while, I’ll post a brief profile with some basic information and a link to where to find more information, as well as a food I’ve tried from that area. First up: China!

China is located in Asia and is home to one of the largest populations in the world. It is known for its exports. Its most popular sight is the Great Wall of China, which spans over 13,000 miles and was built as fortification. China’s flag is red and has a yellow star on its left side with four smaller stars bordering the larger star on its right.

The capital of China is Beijing. The nation is divided into 22 Providences. China gained its independence on October 1, 1949, establishing the People’s Republic of China.

Celebrities who hail from China include Jackie Chan (actor and director), the musical group Mayday, and Li Na (athlete) (Full list here).
